Our Concept
Considered a flower fit for the divine, Lotus finds mention in the holy scriptures of India. It is associated with spirituality and well-being. An integral part of our culture, Lotus is rightfully India’s National Flower.
Shreem Lotus Fabric Project envisions to revive and catalyse the traditional handicraft, up-skill the artisans and weavers of Bharat through pure, natural and vegan Fabric made of Lotus and other natural fibres. Carefully tailored to provide employment to large communities, the Lotus Fabric Project deliberately chooses to focus solely on the labour-intensive process of extraction of lotus fibre by hand and using traditional hand looms to weave.
Thus, innumerable artisans and skilled weavers battered by lack of market exposure, and now the pandemic, will rediscover the joy of weaving and economic well-being. Without doubt, the project looks to involve women at every stage of the process empowering them economically and culturally.
Shreem Lotus Fabric Project is truly a Waste to wealth saga; the lotus stem which otherwise is thrown away as waste, is the sole raw material for the fibre that makes up the warps and wefts of the fine fabric.
